The Streator Standard was built on the idea that small towns deserve good stories, honest questions, and a little more truth than they’re usually given.
We’re not here to sell you on some vision of Streator that only exists in PowerPoints and press releases. We’re here to tell the real story—one block, one neighbor, one hard-earned win at a time.
Our work is shaped by the people who built this town: coal miners, glassworkers, immigrants, teachers, and shopkeepers.
They didn’t wait for someone to come save them. They looked around, grabbed a shovel (or a printing press), and got to work. That’s the spirit we follow.
We believe strong communities are built slowly, by people who care enough to ask tough questions—and who still have enough hope left to believe in better answers. We believe peeling paint is not a crisis. Apathy is.
We’re not interested in being “positive” or “negative.” We’re interested in being useful. Honest. Maybe even inspiring. Sometimes mildy funny.
Because Streator doesn’t need a savior.
It needs a mirror.
It needs a voice.
It needs a standard.
And that’s why we’re here.
